SATURDAY, JULY 20, 2013 11am – 7pm
Wisconsin Aquaculture Association, along with member fish farms, is celebrating this day with their Annual State Wide Open House on Saturday, July 20, 2013. With the increase in public awareness of their food sources, the fish farmers of Wisconsin are opening their farms to the public, promoting Wisconsin aquaculture and explaining the importance of locally grown, fresh, safe fish. The fish farmers of Wisconsin are working together to encourage people to visit a local fish farm and learn firsthand about aquaculture, become more aware of the role commercial aquaculture plays in the state’s economy, local communities, recreational opportunities and in providing a safe healthy food.
Since 1856, Star Prairie’s ice-cold spring water has provided and ideal natural habitat for commercial trout-raising. Fifteen hundred gallons per minute of flow at a steady rate and temperature provide open water and continuous growth and harvests year-round. We feature the excitement of trout angling on the premises May & September on weekends, June through August on Tuesday – Sunday, and year-round by appointment. Our scenic, park-like grounds are bordered to the north by Apple River whitewater.
